Michelle Cole is an award-winning journalist and communications strategist who appreciates a challenge, whether it’s a short-term crisis or helping clients to navigate complex issues. Over the past decade as a consultant, she has acquired extensive experience in the non-profit, health care and education sectors.

Prior to joining Gallatin, Michelle served as the capitol bureau chief for The Oregonian, where she reported on the Oregon Legislature, state government and Northwest politics. Her reporting led to public policy changes in Oregon’s child welfare system.

Michelle brings her reporter’s perspective to her leadership of Gallatin’s media and presentation training workshops. She is a skilled listener, writer and advisor. As a communications strategist, she finds the right words and the right tools to reach the audiences who matter most.

Her community service includes membership on the board of directors for Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square and, for the past several years, as a youth mentor.

"I start each engagement with a deep dive into my client’s goals. There’s no such thing as an off-the-shelf strategy. Each client’s challenge is unique, as are the solutions we generate together."
